2026 Summer Swim Lessons

Town of Warwick’s Mountain Lake Park Pools Swim Lessons – Summer 2026

Registration for Residents Only opens on April 1 at 9am.

Parent/Child (Introduction to Water Skills) Ages 1 – 4

Brief description on swimming ability: Child does not swim on his/her own. Child must be supported in the water. Child may begin to swim underwater with adult in water at child’s side for assistance. 

  • Mondays & Wednesdays 11:30 am – 12 noon (12 spots available)
  • Saturdays & Sundays 11:30 am – 12 noon (12 spots available)

Beginners (Introduction to Water Skills & Fundamental Aquatic Skills) Ages 5 – 6

Brief description on swimming ability: Child can enter and exit water using stairs on their own. Child can hang onto side of pool. Child may or may not be able to put face in water and blow bubbles. Child may or may not be able to swim underwater. Child may or may not be able to float unassisted. Child may or may not feel comfortable swimming with floatation device like water wings or puddle jumper. Child is not yet swimming fully on his/her own without some support or assistance.

  • Saturdays & Sundays 10:00 am – 10:30 am (12 spots available)

Intermediate (Stroke Development): Ages 7 – 8 

Brief description on swimming ability: Child can enter and exit water using stairs on their own. Child can hang onto side of pool and climb out of pool. Child can put face in water, blow bubbles, and submerge under water.  Child may or may not be able to swim underwater. Child may or may not be able to float unassisted. Child may or may not be able to swim on the surface of the water. Child may swim with face out of the water. Child may “doggy paddle.” Child is starting to swim on his/her own but does not yet have good stamina or technique and will often put feet down on the bottom to stand.

  • Saturdays & Sundays 10:45 am – 11:15 am (12 spots available)

Intermediate Plus (Stroke Development & Improvement): Ages 7 – 9

*Class located in the Deep End of the Pool. Water depth is 5 feet deep. 

If your child does not pass the required swim pre-test based on the below description of swimming ability, your child may be asked to swim with a lifejacket. 

Brief description on swimming ability: Child can enter and exit water using stairs, ladder, or jumping in on his/her own. Child can hang onto side of pool and climb out of pool. Child can put face in water, blow bubbles, and submerge under water.  Child can swim underwater or at the surface of the water using several kicking techniques, flutter and breast stroke. Child can float unassisted on belly and back. Child does not have good technique but has some stamina in the water and can float when tired. Child must be comfortable in swimming in water that is over his/her head.

Advanced (Stroke Improvement & Refinement): Ages 9 – 12

*Class located in the Deep End of the Pool. Water depth is 5 feet deep. 

If your child does not pass the required swim pre-test based on the below description of swimming ability, your child may be asked to swim with a lifejacket. 

Brief description on swimming ability: Child can enter and exit water using stairs, ladder, or jumping in on his/her own. Child can hang onto side of pool and climb out of pool. Child can put face in water, blow bubbles, and submerge under water and retrieve rings at bottom of pool.  Child can swim underwater or at the surface of the water using several kicking techniques, flutter and breast stroke. Child is using arms stokes in coordination with kicking but technique is not refined. Child can float unassisted on belly and back. Child can tread water. Child does not have good technique but has good stamina in the water and can float when tired. Child must be comfortable in swimming in water over his/her head.

  • Saturdays & Sundays 11:30 am – 12 noon (6 spots available)

Backup Classes: (only register here if all other options are full) Classes must have a minimum of 5 children to run.  

  • Saturday & Sundays 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm Beginner Ages 5-6 (6 spots available)
  • Saturday & Sundays 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm Intermediate Ages 7-8 (6 spots available)
  • Saturday & Sundays 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm Intermediate Plus Ages 7-9 (6 spots available)
  • Saturday & Sundays 12:15 pm – 12:45 pm Advanced Ages 9-12 (6 spots available)
  • Saturdays & Sundays 12:15 pm – 12:45 pm Parent/Child Ages 1 to 4 (12 spots available)

Fee: $125 Checks made out to “Town of Warwick”

Classes are held at the Mountain Lake Park Pools, 46 Bowen Road, Warwick. Swim lesson pool is heated. Class ratio 6:1. Parent/Child class ratio is 12:1 with parent in water with his/her child.
