Bird Walks & Nature Walks

Wednesday May 3rd and Wednesday June 7th at 9:00am

We will walk slowly and observe the many species of birds that utilize the diverse habitats at Warwick’s Mountain Lake Park. Highlights may include various Warblers, Baltimore and Orchard Orioles, Eastern Bluebird, Flycatchers including Phoebe and Kingbird, Eastern Kingfisher, Barn Swallow, Tree Swallow, Woodpeckers, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagle, Hawks, various Waterfowl, and perhaps some surprise migrants.

Bring binoculars and/or a zoom camera if you have them, and dress appropriately for the weather. Please wear shoes or boots that can get muddy and dirty! The leader will bring extra binoculars and a spotting scope.

The volunteer leader is Rich VanTieghem, a Warwick resident who has been birding for many years and is a member of the Mearns Bird Club. Rich has been observing birds at the Mountain Lake Town Park area for over a decade, with more than 75 species recorded in the area.

Inclement weather: Bird Walks will be canceled in the event of rain. Email recreationdirector@townofwarwick.org for more information.
